    INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBSCRIBING AND POSTING TO MATHSCI BULLETIN BOARD

    To Subscribe to MATHSCI-L:

    1. Send e-mail to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
    2. Use no subject or signature
    3. In body of e-mail put SUBSCRIBE MATHSCI-L firstname lastname
       (Example: SUBSCRIBE MATHSCI-L Carl Gauss) 
       Note: Do NOT use Carl Gauss--use your own name when you
       subscribe!
    4. Be careful when spelling the list's name: MATHSCI-L
       (There is a dash between MATHSCI and L; the last character is the
       letter L not the numeral one)
    5. Do not use any "styled" or formatted text (proportional fonts,
       bold, etc.).
       (Use only simple text with a non-proportional font, i.e.,
       Courier.)
    6. Make sure you send your request to listserv
       (listserv@lists.ufl.edu) -- NOT TO MATHSCI-L!
    7. Notice that listserv is spelled without a final letter "e" (it is
       listserv NOT listserve)
       
    Later check your e-mail (very important):

     * You will first receive a confirmation message
       NOTE: It might take at least 5 or 10 minutes for this message
       to arrive.

     * You must reply OK to the confirmation to be automatically added to
       MATHSCI-L.
       (Alternatively, the confirmation message will give you a web
       address to use to confirm your subscription.)
       Note: You are not subscribed until you confirm your subscription
       as described above!!!
       
     Removing yourself from this list is equally simple (see below).
     Messages from this list will also be archived on the web at:      

     http://www.lists.ufl.edu/archives/mathsci-l.html

     Hence, anyone can review past messages by looking at
     the MATHSCI-L archives! Further information about this list,
     including instructions for how to unsubscribe and review the
     archives, will be sent once you have subscribed.
     
     To Unsubscribe to MATHSCI-L:

    1. Send e-mail to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
    2. Use no subject or signature
    3. In body of e-mail put UNSUBSCRIBE MATHSCI-L
       (You must be logged on under same userid as when you originally
       subscribed.)
       
     To Post Messages to MATHSCI-L:

     METHOD 1 (via email):

     * Subscribers to the list can also post to the entire list by
       sending their E-mail message to mathsci-l@lists.ufl.edu

     * You will not be notified that your message has been distributed.
       However, if your message appears on the MATHSCI-L Web page
       archives at 

       http://www.lists.ufl.edu/archives/mathsci-l.html

       it was successfully posted.

      METHOD 2 (via web):

      * Subscribers to the list can also post to the list by going to
        the archive page

       http://www.lists.ufl.edu/archives/mathsci-l.html

        and then clicking on 

        Post to Bulletin Board
        (http://lists.ufl.edu/cgi-bin/wa?P1&L=mathsci-l)

     * You will not be notified that your message has been distributed.
       However, if your message appears on the MATHSCI-L Web page
       archives at 

       http://www.lists.ufl.edu/archives/mathsci-l.html

       it was successfully posted.
      

     
      If you have trouble subscribing/posting to MATHSCI-L, report the 
      problem by sending e-mail to www-msc@clas.ufl.edu.
